Why we use Shea Butter in our products!

September 20, 2017

ONLY GRADE A, UNREFINED, RAW, ORGANIC AFRICAN SHEA BUTTER IS USED!

Why Shea Butter? Shea butter comes from the nut of the karite shea tree that is indigenous to Africa.  Raw, unrefined shea butter contains vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A and E, as well as essential fatty acids.  It has been used for centuries for its moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties and is quickly absorbed into the skin.  Great for stretch marks, rough spots, dark patches, dry skin, and more!

NO PARABENS              NO SYNTHETICS

NO ARTIFICIAL FRAGRANCES            NO PETROLEUM PRODUCTS

We use unrefined shea butter in almost all of our handmade Artisan soaps!!

Allergy Alert: CONTAINS NATURAL LATEX

Shea butter contains natural latex. Although it is not exactly the same as the sap-like latex extract from the Rubber Tree (Hevea brasiliensis), it is very similar in chemical composition. Although the quantities of latex in shea butter are small, this natural latex is responsible for the sealing property that shea butter has that may aid in protecting your skin and preventing sun allergies.  Persons suffering from latex allergies should do an Allergy Patch Test before using any shea butter product. Many people with latex allergies are not affected by shea butter, but some are, so it is better to be safe than sorry.

Storage information:

For body butters:

Proper storage is important for shelf life and consistency of your body butter. Do not expose to temperatures above 80 degrees F. The body butter could melt.  Jars may be placed in the refrigerator or freezer for later use. Keep your body butter out of direct light and the lid securely on.

For soaps:

Just like all soaps - just keep them in a soap dish so that the water drains.

PLEASE READ! : ALL OF MY BODY BUTTERS ARE CONSIDERED SAFE FOR ANYONE OF ANY AGE, EVEN INFANTS.  HOWEVER, SOME ESSENTIAL OILS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE ON CHILDREN UNDER A CERTAIN AGE OR WOMEN WHO ARE PREGNANT OR NURSING. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO PURCHASE A SCENTED BODY BUTTER FOR A CHILD OR SOMEONE WHO IS PREGNANT/NURSING, OR SOMEONE WITH AN UNDERLYING MEDICAL CONDITION, PLEASE CONTACT A PHYSICIAN FIRST.

Are you allergic to bee stings?  A bee sting allergy means you are allergic to the bee's venom, which is not in either honey or beeswax.

You should do an allergy patch test before using some of our products (ie: lip balms or body butters).   If you are not sure, check with your doctor.
